Enriched Math Lesson Plans for October 22nd- 26th

Monday:  5-5 Congruent Triangles/ Read Stories
Today, students will determine whether a set of triangles are congruent (based on congruence statements).  Students will work individually to complete wkbk page 38 Practice side.  Students will also share stories from Lesson 5-3.
Homework:  Study your notes

Tuesday:  5-6 Similar Triangles/ Continue to read stories
Today, students will determine whether triangles are congruent, similar, or neither.  Students will take notes from the overhead and complete in class practice problems before completing textbook page 216 numbers 3-17 all.
Homework: textbook page 619 Lesson 5-6 numbers 1-6 all.

Wednesday:  5-4 Symmetry/ Finish Reading stories
Today, students will draw lines of reflection for various figures; students will also determine whether each figure has rotational symmetry.  Students will be asked to complete wkbk page 37 Practice side.
Homework:  Study notes from today

Thursday:  5-7 Transformations and M.C. Escher/ Begin chapter 5 review
Today, students will use transformations to create Escher-like patterns.  Students will work in groups to complete an activity that forms a tessellation.  Students will also begin chapter 5 review questions on page 224 of textbook.  Students will complete page 224, numbers 1-25 all.
Homework:  Begin studying for chapter 5 test which will be on Tuesday of next week.

Friday:  Chapter 5 review
Today, students will create review questions from each section of chapter 5.  Students will be asked to work with their groups to give the class a review of the section that has been given to them.  Students will do this by making an overhead transparency and going over the questions and the answers with their classmates.  The teacher will give students correct answers to textbook page review.
Homework:  Study for chapter 5 test, which will be on Tuesday of next week!
